Radio Mystery Theatre
Diggin' up video treasures on Youtube for Halloween.
This week's gem : CBS Mystery Theatre 1971. Put away your blasted cellphone, throw your tele out the window ( it's all crap nowadays anyhow), grab a cup of tea, and chill to the spooky atmosphere of Radio.

Green Ghost
Put away your Ps3 your X-box, IPADS, IPODS, PeaPods, whatever! This is what real gamers used to play endless hours of. Back in the 60's and 70's that is!
Green Ghost vintage 1965 complete with squirming worms and chicken livers, not really, it was just what my brother actually used to scare the crap out of me.You can find one of these vintage treasures on Ebay for about a hundred bucks, without the worms. Have fun.

Disney Halloween
Competing with Universal, Disney takes 1st place for Halloween in my opinion. A spooky night out with a mob of screaming teenagers running around like headless chickens at Universal, is not my cup of tea.
Disney's classic decor and haunting atmosphere is much more relaxing. Then again I'm no teenager ( sigh).
Here's some really neat artwork from the shops.

Vintage Post cereal box
If there was a sure thing I was anticipating around the Fall season, was the Halloween themed box art from Post. As luck would have it, just this month TARGET comes out with some retro boxes as well.
Albeit reproductions, you can at least eat the cereal.
Thanx to Jason Liebeg on Flikr I found one of my favorites.Scan and paste for fun. Cheers.

Welcome back October
Welcome to another Month filled blogs of everything Halloweenish.
Every year each Autumn fills me with delight, Nostalgia fills the air and immediately draws me back to that moment in time where I first discovered the Magic of the Fall season. The 70's.
As much as this commercial cartoon is worn and outdated in today's standards, To me it still holds that Halloween magic. ( drawn in magic markers perhaps). You knew this was the time to string up the skeleton decals and shop for the pumpkins. Enjoy!

Graphic novels ( aka Comic Books)
A League assignment article on comic books? Are you kidding me!
Well...let's see, I could start by humbly showing off a quick snapshot of my collection.
Ha! Okay, so it's a pic from the Raider's movie. It's still what my basement kind of reminds me of though.
I was fortunate enough to have gone through the Bronze age of comics back in the 70s, so that's where most of my collection comes from.(You have to understand it was necessary to stockpile for summer treehouse reading back then). Now,since many have skyrocketed in value over the years , you can imagine plopping 20 hard earned cents on the counter for a mint first edition circa 1973 Ghost Rider was quite a coup de gras!
I still fantasize and imagine wandering back in time to those small convenient stores and buying multiple copies of just about every comic they have. ( hey! I was a rich kid, I had a well paying paper route.).
Well...Years have gone by and I still own that first edition and many more. We've both aged a bit, gained a few pounds, We're slightly worn, slightly creased.
This leads me to subject of this article, and reminisce about My favorite Comic book Artists of that era Bernie Wrightson and Mike Ploog.
Back then even for a 10 year old pop rocks eating kid, I had noticed a unique Art style emerging , a different flavor of visual storytelling, a blend of... Alright, alright, it was Frankenstein's Monster on the cover, how cool was that!
A werewolf, Dracula, and what's this... a Swamp Thing, a Man Thing. Whoa! I was hooked.
With MARVEL and DC pumping out titles like Tomb of Dracula , Werewolf by night, House of Mystery, House of Secrets , Creatures on the Loose, I was on a rollercoaster ride of Monster Mayhem.
Thanks to the internet now their Artwork can be enjoyed all over again, yet there are days I still go down to the basement flip open a Werewolf by Night or a Tomb of Dracula, smile and reminisce of summertimes spent huddled in a treehouse, eating sugar babies, and enjoying a cool comic book. Cheers!

Where would you spend the night?
This week's League of extraordinary bloggers assignment:
You have the opportunity to spend the night at any residence in pop culture. Where do you go?
My choice obviously,(since I spent a couple of months building the bloody thing).
The Munster's Mansion.
What an adventure it would be exploring the many secrets rooms, attic, Grampa's lab in the dungeon, and finding what Eeeevil lurks underneath the stairs!
I still watch The Munsters today with as much excitement as I had in the 70's. I have fond memories as a kid fantasizing living in the cupboards ,rummaging through Grampa's secret stashes, and running around all night spying in on Marilyn...er that's another story.
Yep!...1313 Mockingbird Lane is the place to be.
Be sure to check out Cool and Collected and other League members such as:

Something Red
Having come across the Cool & Collected blog late one dark and foggy night, I've decided to join Brian's League of Extraordinary Bloggers. It's a nifty idea of accomplishing certain weekly tasks in order to join.
Check it out and join the party!
This week's assignment I'm Seeing Red gave me the idea of finishing up DC's Red Tornado for example. It's a work in progress, He's got a cool costume, He's a Superhero, and he's Red, Nuff said. come back in a few days for the final Pic.

Saturday Morning Cartoon Sculpts
There's so much to do with this character. Just a simple bust for now. Ron Ely was cast back in the good ole 70s.
